PASQuanS2 Welcomes the Launch of the European Commission's New Quantum Computing Advisory Board

The European Commission has launched a new Quantum Computing Advisory Board (Q-CAB) to support the development of Europe's quantum strategy. The PASQuanS2 consortium welcomes this initiative and looks forward to contributing to the conversations and decisions that will shape Europe's quantum future.

The Q-CAB arrives at a defining moment for European quantum technologies. The upcoming Quantum Act, expected in 2026, will provide a binding framework to strengthen Europe's quantum ecosystem, while the recent extension of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking's mandate to cover quantum technologies marks a fundamental shift in how quantum research and innovation will be coordinated across Europe. In this evolving landscape, an advisory board bringing together leading scientific and industrial expertise is essential to ensure that Europe's strategy reflects both the realities of the technology and the ambitions of its community.

PASQuanS2's role in the European quantum ecosystem

As a Quantum Flagship project uniting 27 partners from 7 European countries, PASQuanS2 is dedicated to advancing programmable quantum simulation based on neutral atoms and trapped ions. These platforms represent one of Europe's most distinctive and competitive strengths in the global quantum landscape, and they offer a clear and credible pathway toward practical quantum advantage in real world applications.

By building scalable, programmable, and verifiable quantum simulators, PASQuanS2 contributes directly to the goals at the heart of Europe's quantum strategy: scientific leadership, industrial relevance, and technological sovereignty. Our work bridges fundamental research and concrete applications, from materials science and chemistry to optimisation problems with industrial impact, while nurturing the talent and partnerships that Europe needs to remain at the forefront of the second quantum revolution.

Looking ahead

The launch of the Q-CAB reinforces a broader European commitment to coordinated, ambitious, and well informed action on quantum technologies. PASQuanS2 stands ready to engage with this new body and the wider policy framework it will help shape, both through the expertise of our consortium partners and through our continued engagement with the European quantum community.

We extend our congratulations to the members of the new Q-CAB and look forward to a productive dialogue in the months and years ahead.
