PASQuanS2 Reflects on a Year of Quantum Simulation Advancements in 2024
Throughout 2024, the PASQuanS2 consortium has made significant strides in programmable quantum simulation, reinforcing Europe's leadership in quantum technologies. As we approach 2025, designated by the United Nations as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology Quantum 2025, PASQuanS2 is poised to further advance programmable quantum simulators, aiming to scale platforms to thousands of atoms and ions. The consortium remains dedicated to exploring industrial applications and fostering a sustainable ecosystem for quantum simulation across Europe.
Major Highlights of 2024
End-User Workshop on Quantum Simulation Applications
In March 2024, PASQuanS2.1 conducted the "Applications of Quantum Simulation 2" workshop, hosted by EDF in Palaiseau. This event served as a collaborative platform for academia and industry professionals across Europe, fostering discussions on potential applications emerging from the project and strengthening the bridge between research and practical implementation.
First-Year Meeting in Castelldefels
In April 2024, the coastal town of Castelldefels, Spain, hosted the inaugural annual meeting of PASQuanS2. Organized by consortium partners at ICFO, this gathering marked a pivotal milestone, facilitating in-depth discussions on project achievements and strategic planning for the forthcoming phases.
Collective Phenomena Workshop
From August 26 to 29, 2024, PASQuanS2 hosted the "Collective Phenomena" workshop at the Steigenberger Inselhotel in Konstanz, Germany. This event united leading experimentalists and theorists in the fields of cold atoms, nonlinear optics, and circuit quantum electrodynamics, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Participation in EQTC 2024
PASQuanS2.1 actively participated in the European Quantum Technologies Conference (EQTC) held in Lisbon from November 18 to 20, 2024. The consortium showcased advancements in programmable quantum simulators, contributing to the broader discourse on quantum technologies and their applications.
